Dishwasher not heating up or cleaning properly? Try this free and easy test and fix
If your dishwasher has not been cleaning very well; tablet still left in the machine at the end of the wash and no steam when you open the door there may be a fault with the heating system. The problem may be in the transfer hose or pressure chamber, luckily there is an easy way to test:
How to test:
Start a new auto wash (one that heats the water not a rinse).
When it's washing, open the door and add a couple of jugs of water to bring the water level up.
Close the door and let it continue washing. (it will pump out excess water).
Check a few times during the wash, before it empties for the rinses, to see if it...

Checking For Bump Steer On An MGB Or Any Car I was given some great advice by Alastair Cox at AJ Barnard Engineering ajbengineering.com/ for an easy way to check for bump steer on a car. Recently did exactly this on my Rover Mini replacing the wheel cylinders both sides. What I will say is if doing it on the car, use mole grips clamped on the hub to hold the cylinder in place, this gives you two hands to get the clip on, still rather fiddly and involved a few interesting words when it popped off numerous times but that helps a lot. I didn't end using the special tool i'd bought as it would have involved taking the brake pipe off and as i didn't have a replacement i didn't want to chance it. All the best.

    • @davidrussellwilks
      @davidrussellwilks 17 дней назад

      Thanks for your message, you will have a slight difficulty getting to the long studs that hold the crossmember in place with the springs installed. Personally I like to fit the crossmember with nothing attached to it and then make sure it's perfectly square to the vehicle. The crossmember can be fitted when assembled, you will need to put the studs where the springs go in first though, ideally you'll need two people for the job, it's a heavy and rather unwieldly assembly when built up.

    • @davidrussellwilks
      @davidrussellwilks 24 дня назад

      I don't think there would be any harm in trying this method, but it's not one I have used myself. Ideally you want the drum to be hotter than the bearing so it expands. Hopefully the drum may expand more than the bearing does with the oven method.

    • @davidrussellwilks

      A few things that may cause a soft pedal: Water in the brake fluid or old brake fluid Rear wheel cylinders not adjusted correctly Poor rubber hoses front and rear (these can break down internally and should be changed every 10 years) A failing master cylinder A failing brake servo if fitted The pedal should be fairly firm, I'd start at the top of the list and work down, the first three items are the cheapest to fix.

    Thanks for this David. It's helped me diagnose issues with my steering on my B. I was at the point of replacing the entire rack. My current one had no oil in and no shims. I've owned it for 6 months now and had to fix bodges and lots of little simple fixes that previous owners have ignored. Worst of which was a loose ignition wire which caused a short and burnt out the entire ignition circuit. Re-wiring an MGB in the winter with no garage is not fun. But between you, John Twist (Although a lot of his video's have dodgy quality now) and Alex's Garage it's back to where it should be just in time for the summer.

      With these cars careless previous owners do have a lot to answer for! A friend had a 1960's Morris that a previous owner decided to re-wire.
